LIVELIHOOD
WHY LIVELIHOOD
There is a pressing need to address the rampant unemployment and disguised employment prevalent in our country. Many individuals struggle with low wages, making it essential to provide them with an additional source of income for the betterment of their families. At Mahavir International, Secunderabad, we understand the significance of empowering individuals by imparting skills and preparing them for the job market. Our primary focus is to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and expertise to secure sustainable livelihood opportunities. By offering vocational training, we aim to break the cycle of unemployment and uplift families from economic hardships. We firmly believe that by providing individuals with the means to generate income, we can enhance their quality of life and contribute to the socioeconomic development of our community.
WHAT WE DO
At Mahavir International, Secunderabad, we empower the needy to become income-generating resources for their families. Through our programs, we offer free tailoring and stitching training to women at Swabhimaan. We also operate an e-learning center called Saksham, where over 200 children receive computer skills training. Our upcoming placement service will connect graduates with job opportunities. Additionally, we conduct skill development workshops and provide continuous support and mentorship. We monitor and evaluate progress to improve our programs, and through community outreach, we raise awareness and encourage participation. Our mission is to equip individuals with the skills and support they need to secure sustainable livelihoods and transform their lives.
Mahavir Intermational ventured into e learning by setting up a computer lab at a school supported by us. The massive interest that was generated amongst the students there provoked us to examine the possibility of stand alone computer centres which would aid under privileged children and help them in the fast evolving digital world that we are in today. Thus was born SAKSHAM.
The first centre under SAKSHAM was set up with the assistance at Kompally this year. It is a fully equipped centre with 12 state of the art computers, a class room, a recreation cum reading room and two full time faculty.
Currrently we have enrolled more than 200 children who are taught the basics of computers (hardware and software) free of cost. We plan to enroll older children and teenagers in skill development courses in the evening utilizing the same infrastructure.
The success of SAKSHAM emboldens us to think of expanding this activity multi fold be setting up more centres in other areas so that we may be able to serve a larger number of children and enable them to become tech savvy and productive citizens.
